The challenge
Scaling Helmet Safety Innovation Under Pressure
Each helmet design and size requires a tailored solution, involving variations in materials and construction methods to maintain performance. As demand increased, Mips faced a bottleneck: they lacked internal capacity to manage and execute the growing number of design projects needed across different helmet models.
Valoriim was tasked with design and project management for helmet projects, delivering a visually appealing solution that met all functional tests. Both design and testing was made by Valoriim as well as customer dialogs securing satisfaction.
The process
Hands-On Design, Manufacturing Expertise, and Global Coordination
Valoriim was brought in to provide hands-on support in both design engineering and project management, seamlessly integrating with Mips’ internal teams. We contributed across the entire development process, including the design and construction of plastic and fabric-based solutions, adapting each friction layer to suit specific helmet geometries and use cases.
Technically, our involvement included vacuum forming and injection moulding, ensuring optimal material performance and manufacturability. We also supported product testing, applying comparable methods to evaluate and refine each design’s protective performance.
Equally important was communication: acting as a bridge between Mips, helmet manufacturers, and international production partners. We worked closely with the Mips team and manufacturing units in China, and supported ingredient brand communication—ensuring consistent messaging around the Mips safety system in customer-facing helmet products.

Delivering safer helmet solutions worldwide
Our collaboration enabled Mips to maintain its development efforts without compromising quality or performance. By supporting multiple parallel projects, we helped maintain delivery timelines and reinforced Mips’ position as a reliable partner to helmet manufacturers. Through the project, we also deepened our in-house expertise in polymer-based design, advanced manufacturing techniques, and global collaboration, while contributing to the ongoing development of products that help protect lives.
The deliverable product was mass-produced in communication with a Chinese team and delivered to customer.
